Botanical Prints and Presses: A Hands-on Creative Workshop

  • San Francisco Botanical Garden 1199 9th Avenue San Francisco, CA, 94122 United States (map)

Saturday, September 27, 2025
10am-12:30pm
San Francisco County Fair Building — Recreation Room

About the Program

Registration includes all materials. Please be prepared to walk for about 30 minutes total, to and from the Children’s Garden within SFBG.

Join garden educators Carey Craddock and Jordan Kushins for a creative morning getting hands-on with nature and making one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Together we’ll tour the Botanical Garden for inspiration; collect cuttings from the Children’s Garden; then make colorful prints with fresh and dried leaves and flowers. All attendees will also put together a portable flower press to preserve plants for future projects. Leave this session full of fresh ideas, with gifts to give or keep!

About the Instructors

Carey Craddock is a garden coach, consultant, and horticultural enthusiast. She has been teaching at Garden for the Environment since 1998, first as a Get Up! intern, and then as a staff member until 2003. She trained in both CCSF and Merritt College’s landscape horticulture programs, and loves to combine her passion for art and horticulture into creative projects. She runs Carey Craddock Gardens where she specializes in ecological garden design and growing food.

Jordan Kushins (she / her) writes about creative places, people, and things; draws everything from seagulls to salvias; makes ceramic jewelry and other crafts; and gardens weekly with Carey Craddock, as well as kids at the Up On Top! program at the Tenderloin Rec Center. She’s also the founder of outer outer .space — a resource offering online and IRL inspiration to make, learn, collect, do, and share.
